The 2020 Eastern Athletic Trainers’ Association (EATA) Conference was held January 10-13th. The Athletic Trainers’ Society of New Jersey (ATSNJ) was well represented. Two ATSNJ members were honored during the conference. Robb Rehberg received the EATA Excellence in Leadership Award. Eric Schwartz received the Francis J. George Scholarship Award. Both men are former ATSNJ Presidents and key influencers of New Jersey athletic training.

Robb Rehberg – EATA (Cramer) Excellence in Leadership Award
The EATA Excellence in Leadership Award recognizes those members of the EATA who have provided leadership that enhances the profession of Athletic Training in a manner consistent with the leadership provided by Chuck and Frank Cramer. Robb Rehberg has impacted the athletic training profession through advocacy and legislative changes to promote and enrich the practice and profession. Currently, Rob is the Chair of the New Jersey Council on Physical Fitness and Sports and in June will become the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) District 2 representative to the Governmental Affairs Committee.

Eric Schwartz – Francis J. George Scholarship Award
The Francis J. George Scholarship Award recognizes a Doctoral student who demonstrates the same passion and commitment to the profession of athletic training as Frank did throughout his career. The recipient must be a Doctoral student (clinical as well as educational) who has displayed a commitment to the profession of athletic training. The commitment must be shown through the PRACTICE of athletic training as much if not more than contributing to the science BEHIND the PRACTICE. Eric Schwartz demonstrates commitment to the profession and practice of athletic training as he completes his Doctorate of Athletic Training from Moravian College and continues working as Head Athletic Trainer at Washington Township High School.

Congratulations to both Robb Rehberg and Eric Schwartz! Thank you for all your contributions to the athletic training profession!
