Hall of Fame - Karen Manista ATC

Karen Manista earned her BA from William Paterson College in 1979, her major was Physical Education with a concentration in Athletic Training. After graduating in ’79, Karen worked at Glen Rock Jr/Sr. High School for 8 years and then moved to Middletown High School North where she worked for 15 years. She currently resides in Monmouth Beach, NJ and works as a full-time athletic trainer for Summit High School.

Karen has also dedicated a lot of time to working on various committees both at the national and state level, such as the NATA Liaison to the National Federation of State High School Associations, NJSIAA Medical Advisory Committee, NJSIAA Athletic Training Workshop Committee, NATA District 2 Executive Board, ATSNJ Conference Committee Chairperson, and NATA Secondary School Athletic Trainers Committee (1st female). In 1999, Karen was the first female to be appointed by Governor Whitman to the Athletic Training Advisory Committee of the NJ State Board of Medical Examiners and was re-appointed by Governor DeFrancesco in 2002. She was the 2nd female to be elected President of ATSNJ in 2001.

In 1993, Karen was awarded the NJ State Interscholastic Athletic Association Athletic Trainer of the Year award. She also was the recipient of the Micro-Bio Medics Scholastic Athletic Trainer Award (1996), NATA Athletic Service Award (1999) and ATSNJ Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award (2003). She was also the first female to be inducted into the NJ State Coaches Association Hall of Fame for Athletic Training in 2000.
