Hall of Fame - Stephen E. Bair ATC

A native of Culver, Indiana, Steve attended Western Michigan University and received a B.S. in Biology. Steve spent two summers as an intern with the Detroit Lions Football team working under Hall of Fame Athletic Trainer Kent Falb. He attended the University of Arizona’s graduate program receiving his M.Ed. in Health Education. During the summer of 1972, Steve was hired as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Temple University. Steve was promoted to Head Athletic Trainer in the summer of 1978. He held this position until the winter of 1987. During his tenure at Temple University, Steve was a part time faculty member in the College of HPERD.
Steve accepted the position of Athletic Trainer at Overbrook Regional High School in the winter of 1988, and has worked at Overbrook Senior High School since the summer of 2001.
Steve has been an active member of the Athletic Training profession, serving both the New Jersey and Pennsylvania Society’s, as well as the National Athletic Trainers’ Association. He served two terms as the District Two Director, and was the Treasurer for the ATSNJ for three terms. Steve also served as the NATA Vice President, Assistant Director of the NATA Certification Committee, President of the Examination & Standard Committee, and was the editor of the “NATA Certification Examination Study Guide” and the “Test Site Administrators Guide Manual.”
Steve has received numerous awards including the Micro Biomedics and Cramer awards from the EATA, the PATS Service Award, and the Distinguished Service Award from the ATSNJ. He has also received the Ted Quedenfeld Memorial Award from the Philadelphia Sports Medicine Congress and the NATA Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award.
